Held at the Paspaley Pearls store in Martin Place, Sydney, Aje transformed the decadent space into an underwater shipwreck with counters laden with skulls, shells, pearls and antiques. Models slowly walked around the weaving runway, with some sporting over $1 million worth of pearls.
Inspired by the nautical and mystical theme, Diane Gorgievski, Joico Hair Director said, "We wanted to create a hair look that seemed as if the models were mermaids that had the sun shining on them just as they've come out of the water. We wanted the ends to be a bit darker to emulate wet hair while the roots are starting to dry, so we used clip-in hairpieces and Joico K-Pak Mousse and Gel for this effect."
Amber Dreadon, MAC Makeup Director said, "It's all about being minimal." She adds, "These models are professionals and have exquisite skin so we didn't use any foundation - there's no need. We played a lot with MAC Strobe Cream and MAC Moisture Infusion on the skin followed by a touch of concealer, MAC Lipstick in Fresh Brew on the eyes and a MAC Lip Conditioner on the pout to finish - it's a really refined look that allows the clothes to shine."
As for the nails, OPI Nail Lacquer in Cosmo Not Tonight was applied over the nail, then a chevron free edge of OPI Nail Lacquer in Glow. To finish, loose gold glitter and top coat was painted on to play up the sequin-heavy spring/summer 12/13 collection.- Eleanor Pendleton
