There's a new muse in town and she has beautifully braided hair, tiny red lips and frolics in the sunshine wearing crisp white cotton dresses featuring a kaleidoscope of floral embroidery…the babushka doll, which is also the inspiration behind Alice McCall's spring/summer 2012-13 collection!
Drawing on the traditional Russian dolls as well as the colours of antique stained-glass windows, and Hungarian art and needlework as a starting point, McCall's collection was a whimsical nod to folk fashion, with contemporary twists, such as so on-trend peplum shapes, digital prints and mesh detailing. The result? Living dolls that were feminine, fresh and all grown up.
