She's a style heroine for a generation, with a knack for everyday dressing few other stars can match. We're talking about the ever-gorgeous Rachel Bilson, who plays Dr. Zoe Hart in light-hearted drama, Hart of Dixie. The laidback actress shares her fashion philosophy and channels three of her own glamour icons, in this month's InStyle.
Let's face it: Rachel Bilson hardly needs a makeover. Even after four days on the road to promote Hart of Dixie, her TV series on FOX8, Bilson arrives at our interview cheerful, unruffled, and stunning as ever. Dressed in a simple black T-shirt, black jeans, and an olive-green jacket from Gap Kids, with her hair tossed in a messy twist, she is the picture of nonchalant chic. And yet, as she settles into a booth at Los Angeles' House of Pies, Bilson's presence is so magnetic, she immediately causes heads to turn at the next table.
Ever since she breezed onto the scene as Summer Roberts on The O.C. eight years ago, Bilson's easy, neo-boho style has had that effect on people. Whatever outfit she pulls together—whether it's a simple scarf and cargos or an of-the-moment Suno dress with Brian Atwood ankle boots—tends to create the fashion equivalent of a feeding frenzy, as any reader of celebrity-style blogs can attest. In the past few years she has parlayed the public's fascination with her look into designing gigs of her own, including a capsule collection for DKNY and a homewares line for US department store Macy's. As if that weren't enough to cement her status as the newest darling of the fashion world, Karl Lagerfeld cast her in a seductive little film about Magnum ice-cream. "Just the opportunity to work with him and have him direct me," says Bilson breathlessly, "I would have done anything. I would have worn a gorilla suit!"

"I love Hepburn. I grew up wearing vintage, so this feels very familiar to me. The slightly messy hair makes everything else modern".
